Looking for a mild, low-impact dog with great manners? Meet Marmalade! She is a sweet, calm and gentle mixed breed pup who was found roaming as a stray. Marmalade weighs 64lbs, is 10 years young, has super soft fur. Her favorite activity is taking cozy naps. Marmalade was very confused with her surroundings when she first arrived to the shelter. She was initially very shy, afraid and shut down. It's not her fault, she had to leave behind the only life she's ever known. The good news is that she is resting in a foster home until she finds her forever family! She is really getting used to it there, and flourishing! With a little patience and time to allow her to trust, she has proven to be a cuddle bug and people lover. She prefers having company while she spends her retirement in comfort!

Her foster parent describes Marmalade's personality in the home as follows:
"Marmalade loves life in the safety of a committed home. Her personality has begun to blossom during her time with me. She has basic house training skills down, she does best when she gets frequent potty breaks and can communicate when she needs to go out. She enjoys sniffing leisurely around my small backyard and moseying around in the sunshine. She walks but her mobility is limited, so she does not require long distance walks or intense exercise. She takes turns napping inside and basking outdoors during the day. She sleeps through the night. Marmalade enjoys food, booty scritches and gentle pets on the head as she dozes off. She does not bark in the home, is not reactive to other dogs. Marmalade can be left alone / crated quietly when you leave the home. She gets along well with other gentle and friendly dogs. She does not chase after smaller critters in the yard. She's so easy-going, you almost don't know she's there!"

Marmalade has met other dog pals at BARCS, and does best with gentle playmates.

You can apply for Marmalade by completing a foster adoption application or emailing dogfosters@barcs.org to schedule a meet & greet with Marmalade at your convenience. Thanks to BARCS' Love Last Forever program for animals over the age of 5 years old, Marmalade's adoption fees are waived!
