Oatmeal Raisin, called "Oatie," by his foster, is the perfect example of a HAPPY DOG that wants nothing more than to love and be loved by his furever person. After weeks of recovery at BARCS based on his HANDSOME healthy looks and energy level, the vet has said he might only be 7-8 yrs.
Summary of foster's notes:
-Happy guy; a loyal best friend -Obedience: knows sit, down (for short time), and 'crate"; very treat motivated -Crate-Trained, sleeps through the night -Potty-trained -Will need to meet any potential dog roommates to make sure they are a good match! -No cats, small animals -Energy level/Strength can be a bit high, (strong tail!), so though he's very friendly infants and young children not recommended
Oatie will be a loyal BEST FRIEND. His resilience regaining his health after some past neglect and malnutrition has been amazing.
His recovery foster noted he already knows 'Sit', 'Down', and ' Crate' for a treat. He is treat and food motivated - which is great for more training- he is still just a bit goofy overzealous when grabbing treat (understandable given how thin he was!) Oatie sleeps soundly in his crate overnight and is potty trained.
At BARCS he showed he can do well with certain polite medium to large pooches. His foster notes he shows moderate to high interest in cats thought so probably should not be placed in a home without cats or small animals.
Despite his energy, even if a 'young' 7-8 years Oatie shouldn't spend this 'senior" time in a shelter. Please consider taking him home! Come on down to BARCS to meet him, no appointment needed!
