Pizza is a sweet young pup that would greatly benefit from ongoing training, routine and consistency in his life.
While he was with me, he did very well with some guidance. He's very attentive and food motivated. He is eager to learn when treats are involved. He will sit very politely for a snack or his meals. He will also give you, his paw. We are working on the down command but it's definitely not his favorite. He did play with my other dogs and did pretty well after a few days of understanding proper play and boundaries.
Pizza isn't too sure what toys are right now. He will find one or 2 that he likes but he doesn't get too excited over them. Pizza really enjoys eating sticks and mulch. You will want to be vigilant in teaching him what's appropriate to eat versus not.
He loves to follow you around and will come when called. All of these things should be actively worked on daily to continue his obedience. Every time he gets a treat, toy or meal ask him to sit.
He does try to jump on you, but we are working on the word ‘off' with a light knee nudge when he does that. Once he settles and sits down then praise him.
Leash walking is coming along. He does pull some but corrects very easily. We are Learning the word heel. He has been getting walked twice daily. He is a very confident dog
Pizza did very well in a crate. I would toss a treat in the crate and tell him ‘Crate'. He will go in with no problems. I suggest continuing this as well since he likes to find small things to chew on. He should be crated when nobody is home to watch him. He sleeps 9 hours in a crate no issues and will bark when he has to potty in the morning. His last potty time has been at 10pm.
Current in-home schedule:
7:00 am - wake up and potty
8:00am- eats breakfast in his crate
Between an hour or 2, he will need to potty again.
10-5 - Pizza will come in and out of his crate every free hours for play and potty
5pm - is dinner time
10pm- Potty time before bed
He has been eating a total of 3 cups a day. 1.5 cups each meal. Purina Pro Plan Puppy - Salmon and rice
This schedule is a suggestion depending on your daily routine. This is what was done in home with me.
I do not suggest any type of rough tugging games with Pizza while he is still learning the ropes in life. Keep play light and fun. Fetch is a great way to exercise him.
