**Casey is available through ADOPTION AMBASSADOR and is not onsite at the shelter!** Meet Casey! This sweet girl was brought here due to being described as an escape artist by her previous owner. However, she hasn't shown any of those characteristics in her foster home. Casey stays in the fenced-in dog run and doesn't try to jump the four-foot fence or break through the gate. Casey also waits patiently by open doors and responds well to "stay." She is one smart cookie! Her foster home described her as such a kind, gentle gal. She loves to greet you at the door with tail wags and friendly sniffs! She can be a bit nervous when initially meeting people but warms up after a few treats. Despite Casey's anxiety in the kennel at TCHS, she shows absolutely NO signs of anxiety in the foster home. She has made herself very comfortable and has been nothing but calm! She has also met some strangers and warmed up immediately to them. Casey loves to run and would appreciate a large fenced-in yard or daily long walks. Casey would also benefit from a properly sized harness to ensure her safety. She has met other dogs and did great as long as the other dogs wanted to be her friend too. She has lived with cats and young children and did well. Casey gets along very well with the foster family's male German Shepherd and female Mini Aussie. She loves to follow them around and be near them all the time. She is also uninterested/ignores the family's two senior cats! Slow and proper introductions are always recommended whenever introducing a new animal to the home. While Casey is welcome on the couch and bed at her foster home, she prefers (AKA LOVES) the dog bed on the floor! It's easily her favorite place to be. Casey is house-trained and will stay by the door if she needs to go out. She has been kennel trained and does well kenneled overnight. Kong toys are her favorite and she'll give anyone a run for the money with tug of war. Casey is working on leash training and does best when using a gentle leader. Casey is mostly quiet (despite being a hound) but she will bark at the neighbor's dogs through the privacy fence in the dog run. She is responding well to "no" and "leave it." Casey is also reactive to other dogs while on leashes during walks (Leash training and more experiences like these will help Casey overcome this!). She loves walks, and while she does pull, she is practicing to break this habit! She also LOVES car rides and sticking her big head out the window to get all the sniffs. Casey isn't much of a fan of playing with toys, however, she has shown interest in picking up a ball and carrying it around. She loves treats, though! Casey currently weighs about 80 pounds. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, de-worming, any medical procedures and general care.
