ABOUT BUMBLEBEE: Buzz buzz! Is that a honey bee you see in the distance? No, it's a Bumblebee! And he's coming right towards you - could you be the family he's been waiting for?

Our Bumblebee is all honey and no sting. This big guy came to our shelter via the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), who rescued him from a meat market in South Korea. He is eager to find his new home where he can finally learn what it means to be a part of a family.

Bumblebee had never lived in a home setting before we sent him to foster to get a little break from the stressful shelter life. Remarkably, this sweet goof caught on quickly and was a stellar house guest. Once he was shown some basics (where to go to the bathroom, where his toys were kept, how comfy a couch is), he got right into a routine and made himself at home.

Bumblebee's foster said he was loving and sweet and that he enjoyed loafing around on the sofa as much as running around in the backyard. She also let us know that Bumblebee did great with her cat - bonus!

We are looking for a home where Bumblebee can be the only dog so that he can fully acclimate to his new home before introducing new dogs to the mix. As we mentioned, Bumblebee is reported to do well with cats with slow, proper introductions. We think he's best suited for a home with older, sturdy kiddos who can handle this big boy giving them hugs without falling over.

This athletic boy's favorite activity is playing fetch. He loves chasing down a tennis ball or toy, and it is a hoot to watch him tuck it in his sizable jowls as he trots it back to you.

We've worked on a number of things with Bumblebee since he's been here with us at the shelter including leash manners, basic commands, and how to properly greet people. At first, we don't think this gentle giant knew how big he was and that receiving a hug from him upon first meeting could be a bit alarming. Now, he knows to wait patiently for humans to solicit his affection rather than just throwing his 90-plus pound body at you as you walk through the door.

Bumblebee is truly a lovely dog, he is just waiting for someone to give him a shot! Could it be you? If you are looking for a honey sweet pup to join your family, come to the ARLGP and meet Bumblebee!
