ABOUT FRED: Calling all hound lovers! Sweet boy Fred can't wait to get out of the shelter and show his new family how good of a boy he is. Fred would love to be sniffing the smells on a trail walk or basking in a sunny spot on a hardwood floor. In his ideal world, Fred would have a yard to explore with lots of scents to track, but he's also fine with just going on plenty of walks as a way to smell the smells.

Once he has sniffed to his heart's content, Fred is ready to sack out on the couch. A typical hound, this guy knows how good a few hours of lazy naps can be after the hard work of patrolling the neighborhood.

We can't say Fred doesn't bark. He certainly does tap in to his inner hound and sing the song of his species when he wants to alert his humans to something. However, if Fred is barking, it isn't for no reason - and once he's successfully gotten his human's attention, he goes back to whatever he was doing.

Fred loooooves stuffy toys and we often use them as rewards during his training sessions. Fred has been working on his basic commands like sit, down, and stay. He's also learning to overcome his fear of going for rides. We aren't sure why, but getting in the car or truck is not Fred's favorite thing, but he seems to be persuaded when we introduce some cheese and his favorite stuffy toys to the equation.

When it comes to other dogs, Fred is totally down to have dog friends outside of his home. However, because he has some trouble sharing his things, we are recommending he be the only dog in his home. He's a hound, which means he's got a prey drive, so we'd recommend that any cats in the household are outdoor, dog-savvy kitties who can navigate that. Kiddos should be older and dog-savvy for Fred's maximum comfortability.

If Fred sounds like he could be the hound of your dreams, come to the ARLGP and meet him today!
