MEET DOUGHBOY
Doughboy (DB) is a one-of-a-kind dog searching for an equally special family. A kennel and foster favorite, DB has a heartwarming story of triumph. Neglected by his previous owners, DB suffered a right hip fracture that went untreated, leaving him in pain and unable to move freely for years.
Doughboy has received the surgery he desperately needed, and his recovery has been nothing short of miraculous! This SWEET pup is eager to make up for lost time. He's longing for a loving home where he can finally experience the joys of running, playing, walking, and everything else a dog deserves.
Here are some facts about DB from being in foster care:
- 8 year old, Male
- 69 lb ( he needs to get to 60-65 lbs)
- Doughboy is his real name and responds to it
- Submissive, calm, chill, very pleasant dog
- Co-exists very well with other dogs with those he gets along with
- Ideal doggie friend would need to be on the calmer side, one who likes to co-exist
- Easy to put harness on; easy to walk on leash
- Knows sit, come, stay, lie down, no, outside and many more.
- Loves being outside to explore and bask ??
- Loves to sleep- perfect land hippo??
- Loves ALL people but prefers to watch high energy children from a distance. They destroy his chill vibes.
- Fully house trained
- DB is a perfect house guest so no chewing up household items. He is trustworthy to be left alone when owners are gone
- He also does well gated in a room, alone. He just sleeps
- Treat/ food motivated
- Doesn't get on furniture and sleeps in a dog bed
- Low energy dog
- Does not destroy toys
- Very obedient to correction; great recall!
- Easy to bathe and didn't flinch at his nail trimming

**DB is part of the No ?? kitty?? committee!
Doughboy is fully recovered from a very successful hip surgery and, rest assured, all follow ups at the vet have been completed by AFHS. The vet is thrilled with his recovery!
Moving forward the vet has recommended DB continue to walk in order to rebuild muscle in his right hind leg. These walks will also help him shed some excess weight, making him feel even better while preserving his joints! He's almost at his goal weight in foster care
Doughboy is brimming with life and ready to experience all the fun a dog deserves. There's truly nothing not to love about this delightful goofball!
