Meet Misty
Beautiful Misty and her gorgeous sister Dazzle are safe with us. These puppies have lived a very rough life until now. The damage done to them is heartbreaking, but they are on the mend. Misty was starved as a young pup and the sisters were left to fend for themselves. Tiny and alone, they experienced no love, or safety and protection. And there has been no explanation as to where their mama was. Misty is was so shy and clingy when she came in, but has blossomed under the gentle care of our staff an volunteers.
Misty is thought by our vet to be a cattle dog mix based on her size and her very unique look with one bright blue eye. She is about eight months old. We're have so hard to erase her past and show her it's blue skies ahead. Misty has put on weight, taking advantage of having food at the ready, but she is expected to remain small, most likely under 35 lbs. She is absolutely blossoming. She recently had a brief foster stay, and she did great in a home! She rides fabulously in the car, loves hiking and hanging out a local brewery. She should do well with crate training, giving her a safe place in her new home. She loves other dogs and loves to snuggle with her humans.
Misty has a very sweet temperament. She is calm and quiet. She seems to like other dogs, and loves being with her sister Dazzle. She may enjoy being adopted with her or having another confident, calm and friendly dog in the home to show her the ropes. She'll need a fenced yard to run and play safely. She walks well on a leash. Misty will do well with a patient and gentle family. She may do better with older children, not because she'll bite or knock them down, but because she needs time to feel comfortable. She can get scared easily with things she doesn't understand.
Misty is going to be a great dog and being in a home where she feels safe and loved will be so wonderful for her. Perhaps you'll be the one to undue her past and help her into her loving future.

Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. If you don't receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please email our shelter at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No Kill shelter in the North Georgia mountains in Sautee Nacoochee. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Our adoptable pets are primarily owner relinquished and also rescued from area Animal Controls and kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
