Prior to coming to GDHS Kevin had spent the beginning of his life outside and was fed by the community.
Kevin did not have much human experience before coming to to us so volunteers and staff have been helping him with his socialization skills. Kevin now enjoys chin scratches and recently has even been offering some of his beautiful purrs to people that he trusts. Kevin has bonded very closely with Ricky who was originally from the same cat colony so must be adopted into a home together.
Both Kevin and Ricky are FIV+. FIV is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Owners of FIV+ cats should be aware that this Virus is only transmittable between cats through deep bite wounds and cannot be transmitted through friendly contact or to dogs or humans. FIV does have potential to reduce a cats immune system however studies have shown that cats with FIV often live as long as otherwise healthy cats that do not have this virus.
These Boys have been making wonderful progress with us and we feel that they would continue to improve in an understanding, calm environment.
