Meet Snoopy!

This unique lady was unfortunately brought to GDHS by a paramedic when it was determined her owners would no longer be able to care for her. The adjustment from home-life to shelter-life has been tough on this girl and our staff hopes she will find her new forever home soon.

Snoopy is a bold, confident and entertaining cat who would excel as a only pet in a childless household. Snoopy has also done very well with another independent cat while at the shelter, so perhaps another calm feline companion will suit as well! Snoopy greets staff and volunteers at the door of our 'Sunshine room' with soft meows and churrs. She loves to be scratched with a back scratcher, but she will give you a swat or a nip when she has had enough. Snoopy is currently on Amitriptyline, an anti-anxiety medication which has helped her behaviour immensely in the shelter environment. While Snoopy does experience mood swings, we are confident that she will do excellently with individuals who understand cat behaviours and can recognize her communication signals. An experienced owner will be able to offer Snoopy the love and understanding that she requires!

Snoopy has been diagnosed to be in the very early stages of kidney disease. What does this mean for Snoopy and her new owners? For now, Snoopy's only special accomodation is a special diet (K/D by Royal Canin), but it is imperative that she visits the vet on a regular basis to slow the progression of this common disease.

Snoopy has been a delight to have around, from rolling around the floor in catnip to her soft churrs when she's content, but it is time for her to settle into a home that suits her needs better than the shelter is able to accomodate. Our staff sympathizes with Snoopy and the hardships she has gone through, from losing her long-term family to facing the beginning of renal disease, she is a courageous and strong girl who deserves the best. If you feel Snoopy may be the right fit for you, please do not hesiate to reach out with questions or complete an application online to begin the adoption process!
