Maxine has been in foster, this is what her foster family has to say about her:
Maxine has been with us for a week, and here is what we have learned. Maxine is very smart and wants to please. She is very easy to live with. Someone must have loved her a lot and also trained her well in her lifetime. She does many things on command, including sit, shake, bark, jump, rollover (sort of), spin, go to your crate, drop it, and stay. She'd be a great partner, we think, to do more training with, such as agility training or advanced tricks. She's great on the leash, and only seems to need a smaller amount exercise, such as two shorter walks per day. We are thinking maybe she has a lot of brindle whippet in her, as her size, shape, and temperament match the whippet's. She's very fast and agile when moving, but spends most of the day relaxing. She is a small dog, perhaps about 40 pounds, but with long legs. She does GREAT with the cats, even though one of them scratched her ear. I think if she stayed, they'd become BFFs. She crates well, though doesn't seem to need it. She wants to be around and cuddled up near her people, but she is not clingy and has been giving a lot of love to everyone in the family. She rarely barks. She is an older dog with some aches and pains, so needs a respectful family to be gentle with any sensitive spots. She loves cuddly spots, like under the blankets or on a soft couch. She wanted to protect any special bones, but we told her to leave her bones in her crate, and that worked well. We have not had any issues. Whoever adopts Maxine will be very lucky!
