Due to COVID 19, and the Illinois Shelter in Place order, we have experienced an overwhelming increase in the interest of animal adopting. We have been inundated with more applications than we can process, as we are an all-volunteer agency.

We do sincerely thank you for your interest in adoption. At this time, we will only be reaching out to applicants who may be a potential match for one of our available animals.

NOTE: WE ARE FOSTER BASED, AND ONLY FULLY APPROVED APPLICATIONS ARE SCHEDULED FOR A MEET AND GREET.

Again, we are all volunteers, and do our best to acknowledge/respond to all applications and inquiries, in a timely manner.

Please read the bio below - in it's entirety - before submitting an application.

Thank you!Hello, my name is a Pepper and I am a two and a half year old American Bulldog mix. I am an incredibly loving dog that would be a joyful addition to a good home, but first I want to tell you about my history.

I was taken into foster care because of terrible neglect. I was skin and bones and never knew love, everything was survival to me. No one ever taught me human rules. That all changed though when a nice lady rescued me. Since then, I have learned a lot and everyone is very happy with me and my progress.
I have even been to school to help me learn my manners. I have learned, sit, come, stay and drop it. I am good on walks and excellent in the car. I am well behaved in public, but sometimes need to be reminded to calm down when I see other dogs or squirrels.

I wait until I am invited to my food and will just walk away to avoid a conflict if you decide to take it from me. I absolutely adore people. I am a super-snuggler and love human contact. I sometimes still get a little mouthy or too goofy with excitement, but I have learned to calm down if told to do so. I'm okay with children and other dogs, but I think a home without young children or other pets may be best for me.

I'm okay with the vacuum cleaner. I don't like it, so I just avoid it. It's a fair compromise. I've even learned to get over my fear of the dishwasher when it's running. I need an active family or person that is calm and consistent with manners and rules in order to thrive. I am extremely athletic and would do well in agility courses, jogging with you or going on hikes. I need physical activity. I love to play and have a darling, funny personality. I love my toys and understand now, that they are to be shared and enjoyed not guarded. I also love to binge watch TV on the couch for hours.

I am smart. I lean very quickly and want to please. I am a happy, sensitive soul. Do I sound like a good match for you? If interested please fill out an application at www.placingpawsrescue.org. I promise, you won't regret it.

ADOPTION FEE: $350.00 The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations including rabies, HW test if age appropriate, de-worming, microchip, fecal, spay or neuter, Heartworm and flea and tick preventative. ADOPTION PROCESS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application online at www.placingpawsrescue.org. Once we review the applications, those applicants that are thought to be a good match will be contacted as quickly as possible. We ask that you please be patient with us as we are all volunteers. Then a telephone interview will take place, references checked and a home visit will be conducted. We will then arrange for you to meet the dog. We require that all family members, including current dogs meet the dog prior to adoption. We put all of the known information in the animals description. If the animal is listed on the website, we are still accepting applications for that animal. We only remove the animal when the final adoption paperwork is signed. The best way to contact us is by email at placingpaws@yahoo.com. It is very difficult for the limited numbers of volunteers to return all calls. Thank you.
