Meet Becky

Becky has a sponsor who has subsidized her fee to $25.
Becky used to have a lovely life with her owner and doggie companion until one day it all disappeared...and Becky along with her doggie companion were surrendered to our shelter by her owner's family with not even a backward glance. You see, Becky's owner died, then her doggie companion was adopted, and Becky was suddenly all alone with no one to love her.
We think Becky is still mourning the loss of all she had, but she gamely goes on in the hopes that someone will take an interest in her. Becky is a beautiful border collie/Australian cattle dog mix. She's almost 8 years old. And for a senior lady, a shelter is no place to be, especially when all you've ever known is to be in a warm and cozy house filled with love.
Becky's gentle spirit shines through her grief. Becky loves nothing more than a game of fetch in the yard. Shelter staff play with her and she even has her own dedicated volunteers who come once a week, a mother and her daughter, to play ball with her. They are unable to adopt Becky, but they too realize that Becky is a special lady - so sweet and gentle.
Becky has long legs and a graceful lope, she has the tiniest of ears that fold forward and the silliest of grins. Every time someone walks by she eagerly goes to her kennel door with her eyes shining in the hope that maybe this time she'll be the one who gets to go home. But day after day it doesn't happen and Becky tucks herself into her cot, hoping tomorrow will be different...better.
Becky is terrific with people and kids but is not dog friendly. As for cats, Becky is not a fan and as such she will need to be in a home without cats or other dogs. Becky is spayed, has tested heartworm negative and is current on vaccinations.
When Becky arrived she was house-trained. Time in the kennel may have changed that, but with a little retraining and patience she'll quickly relearn. She's incredibly smart. And, while she loves playing ball, she's also content to relax and be someone's forever companion. Come meet our sweet, sweet Becky. Maybe you can take her sorrow away and fill her life with joy.
