Meet Oscar
Oscar has been waiting far too long for a loving home of his own. After two false starts and a lot of abuse and neglect, Oscar is now in the safe care of our shelter as we continue to seek a loving forever home for this goofy love bug. Oscar has endured a lot in his life and he would love nothing better than to have a person or family who love him and let him be the dog he was meant to be.
Oscar is about five years and four months old. He's an American Pit Bull Terrier mix and absolutely gorgeous. Oscar is 63 pounds of solid rippled muscle. He is striking in looks with the cool swagger of Johnny Cash. And, oh is he gentle with wonderful manners. Oscar can often be found waiting patiently at his kennel door, hoping that today might be his day to go home. And he loves treats, taking them so gently from your hand when offered. It breaks our hearts when another day passes and Oscar remains unwanted.
Oscar has been in our care since being owner surrendered on December 20, 2017. The confines of a kennel are starting to wear on our boy and we'd love for him to find his true love. Despite his past, Oscar has a heart of gold when it comes to people. He loves, loves, loves people and children. He enjoys walking, although he does duck a leash until he knows you mean him no harm, and he loves hanging out in the sunshine. Oscar walks well on a leash, but because of his dislike of squirrels he needs a strong and steady grip.
Oscar is selective about which dogs he likes and will need to be in a home without other dogs so he can bask in the attention of his family. There was a time when Oscar loved all dogs, but something happened in his past. Since Oscar can't tell us what changed, we respect his perspective and his space. Oscar doesn't like cats (nor squirrels or deer) and on that he's quite definite lol!
Oscar is smart and knows basic commands. He does well when his mind and body are kept active with games and toys. He loves being in water and enjoys bathing in his kiddie pool, especially in the high heat. His tail is always wagging and he's always ready with a big sloppy kiss for those he loves. Oscar is a loyal dog and would love to be able to give his whole heart to those who will love him back. The family or person able and willing to open their heart and home to Oscar will be richly rewarded with one incredible dog.
Oscar is neutered, fully vetted and microchipped. Come meet our big ole wonderful Oscar. You'll be glad you did.
