Beau (Male, 2-1/2yrs old,arrival date Dec 15, 2017)
Beau is a golden retriever mix who was surrendered by his owner after a recent fire burned their home to the ground. They were living out of his car with no options available which could include Beau. After a very emotional and tearful parting between two heartbroken souls, Beau was led to the kennels where he held a constant vigil for the longest time hoping his papa would return for him. Hope has faded and Beau has given up on his steadfast watch, resigned that his former life is gone. Beau is grateful for any attention and is good with people of all sizes. His heart is lonely and visitors who spend time with him, lift his spirits. Beau was housebroken upon arrival. He weighs 58 pounds. He has not shown himself to be receptive to other dogs in our environment so will not be adopted into homes with other dogs. His adoption fee is $100. Application can be submitted online at: or at the shelter.

Adoption of all dogs/cats requires an approval process to ensure that they are going into a home appropriate for their needs and that will keep them safe. Each is loved and nurtured by our staff and volunteers during their stay with us and each is placed with same due diligence that they would be given if they were our own family members. Adoption policies and application procedures are at the shelter website: under tab All Adoptable Animals. All approved adopters must accompany their new family member on the journey home. We do not ship nor do we transport.

Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4.
