***AT SHELTER***

Don't confuse him with Fuji the Mother Mountain, he's Fuji the cat!

No plane nor train was necessary for this trip-an automobile was sufficient to transport Fuji east from the Steel City to EHS. While waiting to meet a family to call his own, Fuji is getting used to all the different sights and sounds at the shelter.

Fuji can be shy and timid at first, however our dedicated volunteers are busy helping this gentle soul become more trusting when interacting with all the new faces around him. He accepts pets with the back-scratcher on his head and cheeks, and allows pets by hand once he's feeling comfortable. Fuji even worked up the nerve to rub against a volunteer's hands to show his pleasure. Mount Fuji last erupted in 1708; there are definitely no eruptions where this boy is concerned! Calm and sweet, the way to our Fuji's heart is through food. He leaves his dishes squeaky clean after every meal, and don't forget to offer him the occasional Churro treat, which is his favourite!

We will be able to determine the best setting for this sweet obsidian boy as we get to know him better. Suffice to say, given his gentle nature, a more subdued home environment would likely be a good fit. He is currently enjoying the company of some feline friends and has even been seen cuddling and sharing a Churro treat with a couple of them. We believe that Fuji would be more than happy to share a home with a compatible buddy. As for dogs or small children, this remains unknown.

Though Fuji the cat is not depicted in numerous works of art like his famous namesake, he might encourage you to create some pieces of your own. If you are eager to have your artistic side rise from the ashes, why not pop by to meet Fuji today?
