Bear is a sweet short-haired German Shepherd who loves his walks and playing in the yard. He's been at Have A Heart since December of 2024, and he has never had a single adoption application. He's responsive to instructions, and knows how to "sit" and "go lay down" on his bed. His need for stimulation makes him a barker, so people don't get to see his sweet side when walking past his kennel, but he loves pets and attention, and underneath his excitable exterior, he has a sensitive soul.
Bear is housetrained and loves his walks. He walks well on a leash and only pulls when something exciting catches his attention. He's very responsive to training and food-motivated, and with some treats and time, he's easy to teach. It's difficult to ensure he gets the specialized time and attention he needs in a crowded shelter environment, and so he frequently ends up playing in a yard or missing the training time his mind requires. He loves to play with his best friend, Nash, but he's picky about his friends and could get in a fight with the wrong dog.
Bear would be a good outside dog, a playmate after a meet-and-greet, or for anybody who wants a smart, trainable Shepherd who has lots of love and is frequently misunderstood.
