Meet Sunny
This cute little chihuahua mix, Sunny, is not only adorable, she is a survivor. Sunny was rescued by animal control from the grip of a drug den. Her owners went to jail for peddling meth. They abused Sunny and often forced her to inhale meth. In fact, when she was found, she was in the aftermath of a meth hangover and was passed out and lethargic for three days before she came around. Thankfully, Sunny doesn't show any residual signs of this abuse and we are grateful.
Sunny is a four-year-old apple head chihuahua, possibly a mix. She has a beautiful golden colored short-haired coat, wide and alert eyes and the adorable ears. Sunny weighs just 10 lbs. She loves being held but also walks easily on a leash. She appears to be housetrained. Sunny is a little shy with people she's just met, but when she feels safe, she quickly warms up and is eager for attention. Our staff and volunteers are teaching her to play and showing her every day that her previous nightmare of a life is in her past. Sunny is embracing all the love and attention we can give her and bravely opening her heart to us. Sunny lived with other dogs and had a sister who's been adopted already. We can also test Sunny with cats for potential adopters. Sunny is going to be a wonderful companion for a person/family. Given her past traumas, Sunny may do best in a quiet home. Older children would probably be fine, but young kids and toddlers may be overwhelming to her. We love this little nugget and are so happy that she is now safe with us and has a chance to live a loving life. If you love chihuahuas or are simply looking for a petite companion to fill your heart and home, Sunny is exceptional.
If you want to give a wonderful young dog, like Sunny, a second chance and the first chance at loving and safe life, get your application in at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) or call our shelter at 706-865-4135 and leave a message to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals.
Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
