Meet Sable
Sable and her equally adorable tabby brother Theo came to us a few weeks ago and quickly won all of our hearts. They are currently about 8 months old (DOB estimated June 2025). Sable is a beautiful little black kitten with a BIG personality and an even bigger purr. She will run up to anyone who comes to hang out in the kitten room and beg for attention and snuggles. She had a brief adoption but the family cat would not tolerate her. Feedback from her mom was that Sable is absolutely purrfect and the sweetest kitty ever, and just wanted to be friends with the older cat. Sable is absolutely perfect and will make a wonderful lifetime companion. We'd love for her to go home with her brother Theo but are not making it a requirement. Both are so happy and well adjusted we think they will thrive no matter what.

Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully submitted. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet.
We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
