Meet Roxy
Roxy has to be the quietest treeing walker coonhound there is! This beautiful young dog was forgotten and then thrown away, but thankfully we were there to scoop her up and give her a second chance. She is a gem of a dog and is going to be a wonderful family/person companion.
Roxy looks to be about a year old. She is a gorgeous bi-colored hound with soulful eyes and those classic coonhound ears. She is medium in size. Roxy is shy and super quiet. She is unassuming, laid-back, gentle and calm, but very loving and affectionate, especially as she gets to know you. She doesn't beg for attention, but she appreciates and loves attention when shown to her. We can tell that life hasn't been kind to Roxy. Roxy struggles in her kennel, perhaps it's too confining or maybe she thinks she is going to be forgotten in it. Roxy doesn't like to be alone in the yard either and seems desperate to get out. For the lucky person or family who adopts Roxy, building a bond and being attentive to her will be important. Roxy is not the type of dog you can leave out in the yard alone and a doggie door is not for her. She needs to feel safe and protected. She needs a person or family who can help her erase her past. Roxy walks easily on a leash, no pulling. Roxy likes other dogs. Maybe having another confident and welcoming dog in the home would do her good. We'll test her with cats for potential adopters. Roxy travels well in a car and would happily go on adventures with her people, always leashed. We can picture Roxy curled up on a couch, snoozing on a porch, strolling through the neighborhood or hiking beautiful trails. She is just a great young pup, who seems to have never mattered to anyone until now. Roxy has quickly become a shelter favorite. We know if you met Roxy, you'd fall in love like we have and be willing to give Roxy the stability and assurance that will help her be the best dog she knows how to be.
