Meet Jax!

One year old, ridiculously goofy, ridiculously smart, and ready to take on the world! Meet Jax, a handsome mystery mix who might have a little Carolina Dog, Black Mouth Cur, Shepherd, or perhaps a bit of everything thrown into the mix. Whatever he is, one thing is certain: this boy has personality for days!

Jax has come a LONG way since arriving in our care at the end of June. After a difficult start to life, he's been busy learning all the things a young dog should know. He's mastered commands like "sit" and "wait" for his food bowl, become a much better leash walker, and discovered that life is pretty great when it includes regular meals, walks, playtime, and people who care about him. He's even filled out nicely and is looking much healthier!

Jax is a playful, energetic young guy who would love an adopter ready to keep his clever brain and busy body occupied. Throw a ball or Frisbee, and you've got his attention! He'll happily bring it back for another round, although he's still working on that whole "bring it ALL the way back to you" part. He's eager to learn and has so much potential with continued training, consistency, and positive reinforcement.

Jax is still very much a puppy in a big-dog body, so he's looking for a family willing to help him learn his manners and continue building his skills. He would do best with older children, ages 10 and up, who can comfortably handle his enthusiasm. He's shown interest in playing with other dogs, but proper introductions and a meet-and-greet would be needed. He also has a strong interest in chasing our barn cats, so a cat-free home would likely be the best fit.

Jax has a healed leg injury from his past that may need attention as he gets older. Our veterinary team has recommended monitoring it as he finishes growing, rather than attempting major correction right now. His future family should be prepared to continue following veterinary guidance as he matures.

Jax's past may not have given him the easiest start, but his future is still wide open. He's a goofy, bright, playful boy who is learning that good things come to those who sit, wait, and occasionally bring the Frisbee back.

Could you be the person who helps Jax become the amazing dog he's meant to be? He's ready for his next chapter, and we can't wait to see where it takes him!
