Marley is currently staying in a foster home- please apply online and a PCHS representative will be in touch to set up an appointment for you to meet him.
Meet Marley, a senior fella who recently had his entire world turned upside down. This sweet boy was adopted from PCHS as a youngster, and had an amazing life with his person. Unfortunately, due to health reasons his person had to go somewhere that Marley could not come along. He was entrusted to someone who had been considered a friend...but unfortunately this person did the unthinkable. Marley was not feeling well, and instead of getting him to a veterinarian for care, he was crated up, driven from home, and thrown into a ditch. Left alone. Sick, scared, cold, and confined. Thankfully someone found him before it was too late. He spent time at the vet getting the care he needed and recovering from the traumatic incident, then went to his loving foster home. During the time spent in foster, we have found out that Marley is potty trained, but he doesn't ask to go outside. He needs someone who will make it a priority to take him outside on a regular schedule. He's eating and drinking, and now he's feeling good enough to go find his food and water (although he still likes for you to sit with him while he eats his meals). We've found that he's a very sweet boy, and loves cuddling his foster parents. He enjoys going for short walks, but LOVES continuing going for "walks" in a stroller so he can continue to explore the world after his little legs get tired. (A brand new stroller will come along with Marley at the time of his adoption!) He's getting stronger each day and his personality is shining through!
Some of Marley's favorite things to do is to sit outside with his foster family and bask in the sun, cuddle up on the couch and watch TV, and go for his little walks out in the sun! He's very much enjoying the warmer weather!
Marley is a senior, and after his vet checks, we have found that he has degenerative disc disease (IVDD) that will require some accommodations in his new home. He cannot jump up or down on furniture or do stairs. He needs to eat and drink out of raised dishes. He will possibly be on daily medication for this as well. Both of these conditions will need to be monitored and managed by his new family. We know that is a lot to take on. We know considering adopting a senior is not for everyone, and that is OK. What Marley needs is one family who understands his needs, and can give him the best life possible. If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy, or finding out more about the care he will need, please call and speak with our adoption counselors.
