The poet, Maya Angelou wrote, "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud." I'm Maya, a light-brown tabby mama cat who was found with my five kittens in a man's workshop in a shed in Dover. I am named for Maya Angelou because we arrived at the shelter on the anniversary of her death. That was about four weeks after my babies and I were found. The man who rescued us was afraid we would all get run over. We are so thankful for the care he and his wife gave us. I don't write poetry, but I can purr you a soothing song. I was quite slender because of an illness I had, but now I am back to a healthy weight, thanks to veterinary care and TLC from my foster mom and the volunteers and staff. I can be independent; I am not a lap cat (yet), but I am very sweet and will sit right next to you for petting. I am sure to bring you the brightness of a rainbow, and I can't wait to be your marvelous Maya.
