Meet Hank - Professional Cuddler and Curious Explorer

Hi, I'm Hank. A couple of weeks ago, I showed up at my guardian family's house a little skinny and unsure... but I've been making up for lost time ever since. I've filled out, I'm feeling great, and it turns out I really like this whole "being part of a family" thing.

I'm a super sweet, affectionate guy who loves to be close-like, really close. Leaning on you, sitting next to you, sneaking in extra cuddles... that's my specialty. If you're looking for a dog who wants to be your shadow, I'm your guy.

I'm also pretty smart (if I do say so myself). I'm working on my manners and already know things like sit, wait, back up, gentle, and kennel-especially when there aren't a lot of distractions. Outside, I can get a little excited because, well... there's a lot to see. But I'm eager to learn and really motivated by treats and praise, so I'm catching on quickly.

I'm still working on being fully housetrained, but I've only had one accident so far, which I think is pretty impressive. I love my crate, walk nicely on a leash, and I'm friendly with just about everyone I meet-men, women, kids, you name it.

I'm playful and curious about everything, including squirrels and birds, but I'm not over the top about it. I enjoy toys (especially the kind I can "redecorate" by removing the stuffing), and I love being out in the yard or going for walks.

Right now, I'm heartworm positive, so I have to take it easy and keep my activity calm while I go through treatment. Because of that, I haven't been able to fully play with other dogs yet, but I've met some on leash and have done really well-friendly and interested.

I'm the kind of dog who just wants to be loved and included. I've already come a long way in a short time, and I think with a little consistency, I'm going to grow into an amazing, well-trained companion.

My family says I'm a really good boy-and I think they're right. Now I just need a forever home to prove it in.

My adoption fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, dewormer, and heartworm/flea prevention. Plus, a microchip that is already registered to you! What more could you ask for?

If my bio shows "Spay/Neutered" with a checkmark, I have already been altered; if you do not see this listed, my surgery is still scheduled and a refundable spay/neuter deposit will be required, which will be returned within 10 business days after my procedure is completed.

If you'd like to meet me, please fill out an application on our website, PawmettoLifeline.org.

Adoptions are by appointment Tuesday through Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays, you're welcome to walk in anytime between 10:00am and 5:00pm. Please note that we're closed for adoptions on Sundays and Mondays.
