***** UPDATED INFORMATION: FOR ADOPTION *****

After spending time with a trainer, Darla is back and looking for her forever home. While she has made some progress, Darla needs an adopter committed to continuing her training for leash reactivity. Darla will lunge and whine on leash, particularly when she sees another dog, so continuing to train her to walk politely would make outings more enjoyable for everyone. If you are looking for a sweet, cuddle bug who is eager to learn and grow, Darla could be a match for you.

Tidbits:

Darla is ready to steal your heart! She's a certified cuddle expert who loves snuggling up in her baby blanket or lounging on the back of the couch like royalty. While she hasn't been tested with children, she adores people and would thrive in a home where she receives plenty of love and attention. She enjoys spending time with her humans and soaking up all the belly rubs she can get.

In her previous home, Darla was bullied by another dog, which has made her defensive if she encounters any dog that seems a little "too much" in her face. She will accept passive, calm companions who respect her space. Once she gets to know a sweet dog, she enjoys spending time with them.

Darla is sensitive to loud noises and new environments, so she'll need patience and reassurance as she adjusts to a new home. The ideal situation for her would be a calm household with a fenced-in yard. Darla requires an adopter who understands her needs and is willing to continue to work on some of the behaviors above. She would do best as an only dog or with a gentle furry sibling who won't overwhelm her.

With continued leash training, consistent expectations, and lots of affection, Darla is sure to blossom into your perfect lifelong companion. If you're ready to open your heart and home to her, she can't wait to snuggle beside you and be your loyal, loving best friend! If interested, please apply here: https://btrnc.org/adoption/
