***** UPDATE *****
***** NO DOGS or CHILDREN *****
Boy, do we have an update for you. Buongiorno has improved by leaps and bounds. No longer displaying many unwanted behaviors, he is now a much more confident and well-behaved boy. All of his foster mom's efforts benefited Buongiorno and will now benefit his new adopter. Could that be you? Read all about him below and decide:
Age: Believed to be 1-1.5 years old

Weight: 20.8 pounds

Health: Excellent

Demeanor: Affectionate, sweet, shy/timid, playful, high energy, social, anxious, submissive, vocal

Likes: People (not tested with children, but because he tends to nip when excited, we will not adopt to anyone with kids), cats, snuggling, being held, sitting in laps, going for walks, car rides, tolerates baths (and getting his nails trimmed), chew toys and being crated at night (and other times, too, now)

Dislikes: Dogs, strangers, new experiences

Manners: Housebroken, crate and leash trained. Knows verbal commands such as sit, stay, lay down, kennel up, and go to bed

Fenced Yard Required: Highly recommended because he loves to run and play. If not, he must be kept on leash at all times

Tidbits: Buongiorno now knows his name and comes inside when called especially if he knows a treat awaits him. He's taken a training class at Petsmart where he learned a lot. He will go to the door when he needs to do his business (and sometimes he'll do it just to convince you to go out and play with him). He'll look at you intently or pace back and forth. Dog owners will know that drill!

He's no longer fearful of you reaching for him or being picked up, and he doesn't chew on things that he shouldn't. Rarely he will pick up something he mistakes for a toy, but a simple correction is all it takes for him to understand.

Before he couldn't be left alone for even a second, but now his foster mom says she can go get the mail or do a bit of yardwork and he's fine. He may bark a little as he always wants to be with her, but he settles down rather quickly. He's also made huge strides in being crated for long periods. While his foster mom doesn't like to leave him for more than 4 hours, she has been able to do it a bit longer if necessary.

When Buongiorno gets excited or wants to play, he tends to nip. For instance, when his foster mom comes home from work, he's so excited that he'll nip at her (he's beside himself with joy and just doesn't know what to do with all of it ??). Petsmart has suggested he be given a toy and that has worked well. However, because he does this, he will NOT be adopted to any home that has children.

Buongiorno has become a wonderful little fella. He's loving, snuggly and loyal. A true testament to the care and training his foster mom provided him, and now some lucky person will benefit from all her hard work.
