Atlas is a big boy with an even bigger heart and a sensitive soul. He is very athletic and would thrive in an active household. He absolutely loves to run, and he's fast! He would do best living on a large property, preferably in a quiet, rural area with minimal visitors. A home with no children is required so Atlas can feel safe and relaxed in his environment.
He knows his basic commands-sit, wait, stay, and look-but he needs an experienced owner familiar with guardian breeds. His new person must be confident, gentle, and committed to providing him the ongoing training he will need. Atlas is not easy to walk, as he can be too strong for a lot of people, but with the right focus on training he would do well!
Atlas sometimes becomes overstimulated and, despite his size, can be anxious and insecure. He is reactive to noises and new people, and he's very protective of both his home and his family. His new family must be willing to continue with his ongoing behavioural work and training plan to help him feel secure and build his confidence. Atlas would do best with someone who is home most of the time, providing him with consistency. He may also do well with one calm, confident canine companion.
Once Atlas feels safe, his goofy, playful personality comes out. He loves treats, chew toys, and stuffed animals. He enjoys his naps, sleeps soundly through the night, and one of his favourite things is resting his big head in your lap. Just be prepared-Atlas drools. A LOT.
Atlas is looking for the right, dedicated person, and he will be a loyal, loving, and unforgettable companion.
