Meet Norman, a high-energy pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He's the kind of dog who needs a little time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, his goofy, affectionate side shines through. He will need an adopter who understands dogs with reactivity and willing to put in work and patience with him. He can become very reactive in new situations and needs slow introductions. If he is not calm in a new introduction, he can react negatively due to being very overstimulated. Norman is always on the move and thrives with an active lifestyle, so he'll do best with someone who can match his energy and provide plenty of play and structure. He's still learning the ropes and will require training with us to help him become the best version of himself. With patience, love, and guidance, Norman will reward you with endless loyalty and laughter. He is on anxiety medication since being with us due to the stress of the environment and due to his reactivity with new situations, we think he would benefit with them in the home, as well. Norman is not fully potty trained and will have accidents in his kennel so he will need someone willing to be patient to work on potty training with him.
Ideal home:
Quiet neighborhood with few visitors
No kids, dogs, or cats please!
Fenced in yard to run or someone who is very active

We are very proud to say we have the ability to allow only staff in with the dogs and only allow the public to do meet and greets with an approved application OUTSIDE of the kennels, if everyone feels it's a good fit. Dogs like Norman would never be okay if there were people in and out all day looking at him. Thankfully, we do have the ability to accommodate his needs, however Norman has been with us over a year and waiting for his forever home. Norman is a dog who REQUIRES SPECIAL TRAINING AND HOME NEEDS.
Norman is such a good dog who really needs someone who is willing to give all their time to training him. He was found as a stray and due to this, we didn't know anything about his past. He is highly reactive in situations involving loud vehicles and new people and animals in the shelter. In public, he does very well if you give him direction. He is highly food motivated. He does need someone able to redirect him before he starts to react and help boost his confidence. He can be protective of food and space which is something a new owner will need to understand and learn about. Once he trusts you, he is very eager to please you! He also knows- place, sit, down, spin, come to heel on leash and touch.
He needs:
-To be the only animal in a home
-Single person or couple able to spend most time focused on him
-No kids!
-Quiet low traffic household and yard
-Does need work on potty training but think with fenced in yard he'll learn quicker
We also have trainers lined up to help Norman thrive in his new home and training will be required to make sure everyone is on the path to success!
Norman may be a harder dog to adopt out, but we are able to accommodate his needs the best we can and give him the time he needs to find the perfect match for him. Please know we do have to be strict on the home he ends up in due to his reactivity and needs.
