Murphy is a young stray who arrived at the shelter with several injuries. After receiving medical treatment, he went home with a foster volunteer for a quiet place to heal. He was very affectionate from the start and took no time getting comfortable with his new surroundings. He seemed lonely when nobody could be with him so his foster mom introduced a two month-old kitten recovering from an injured jaw. It was love at first sight! The two immediately embraced, and Murphy began grooming her right away. He acted like a parent to her, earning them the names Papa Murphy and Murphette. They remained inseparable throughout their recovery and are still bonded.
It seems they only have eyes for each other!
Murphy is easygoing, loves lap time, and purrs constantly. He enjoys curling up under blankets and is an avid fetcher who takes retrieving his motion-activated chirping mouse very seriously. He can be a bit nervous around strangers, but warms up quickly and is overall very loving.
Murphette is gentle, playful, and energetic. She loves leaping after wand toys, climbing her cat post, and zooming through her tunnel. While she settles on laps occasionally, she prefers playing with toys or cuddling with Murphy. She is shy, sensitive to sudden movements and loud noises, and prefers a quiet environment with gentle interactions. She would do best in a home with adults only or with older, cat-savvy kids.
Though there was a dog in their foster home they did not meet her since they were there for a stress-free recovery. Murphette did meet one of the mellow adult resident cats from afar and furred up from head to toe. Murphy would hiss and growl when he caught a glimpse of the other cat through the door. Just protecting his baby, no doubt!
Both cats are good-natured for their vet appointments, quiet in their kennel during car rides, and ready to find a loving home together.
