Hamsters play during the night and sleep during the day! Hamsters make great pets for older kids and even adults. Remember, these cute little guys can get startled easily and must be handled with care. They will need an appropriate sized and secure habitat that includes good quality hamster food, bedding, exercise wheel, hiding place, water bottle, wood chew toys and vitamins drops. An ideal diet would include limitless timothy hay and water, pellets, and occasional veggies and treats. Their average lifespan is 2-3 years. Hamsters have cheek pouches where they stuff their food and you'll often see them stuffing their cheeks full. By filling their pouches they may appear to have a very large head!
