Hennessy is a smaller/mid sized Dutch Shepherd mix, who is still working to gain her confidence, which of course, can be hard to do in a loud shelter environment. She is wary of strangers and new people so will require multiple visits with any potential adopters before she feels fully comfortable with them.
When visitors walk by Hennessy's kennel, she may bark or cower due to how unsure and scared she is. She is simply trying to put on a "tougher persona" out of fear of the unknown and this behavior certainly doesn't show her true, sweet personality! Her true personality Is only shown to those who have taken the time to gain her trust.
For those trusted people though, as soon as they get this girl outside you can see her whole demeanor change before your eyes. She'll greet her loved ones with a wiggly butt, lots of kisses and her prance-y paws. She gets the cutest zoomies when she goes out for her walks. She is a very sweet and intelligent girl, with a gorgeous brindle coat. She walks well on her leash, loves her walks and runs! She has already shown drastic improvement during her time here and we know she would truly blossom in her forever home when given the chance. We just need that right person to take a chance on a girl who's scared of the world around her!
Hennessy can be very reactive to other dogs and to strangers and will ideally need a very calm home environment where she can build deep trust with her person in order to help her navigate her fears and reactivity and truly be able to relax and unwind.
Hennessy must go to an adult-only home and be the only pet. She would do best with a family who has experience with reactive dogs and/or stranger danger.
