Meet Luna, a 1.5-year-old Labrador Retriever mix with soulful eyes and a heart slowly learning to trust again. She came to Flagler Humane Society on September 9, 2024, along with three other dogs rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding/cruelty case. All four were malnourished, feral, and terrified of people. They had never known kindness, had no idea how to walk on a leash, and were unsure how to simply be dogs.
Since then, all of Luna's companions have been adopted into loving homes-but Luna is still waiting.
Luna has made incredible progress during her time with us. Though still shy around new people, she finds joy and comfort in the company of other dogs. In fact, Luna absolutely shines in playgroups and would thrive in a home with another playful pup who can help show her the ropes. She's affectionate in her own quiet way and is deeply loyal to those she feels safe with-think of her as a gentle "cat-dog" who builds trust slowly but surely.
Luna weighs around 45 lbs, is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and ready for a patient, loving home where she can continue to blossom. If you believe in second chances and the power of love to heal, Luna is ready to meet you.
Children aged 10+ would be best due to her timid nature.
