Meet Opie!
Opie is the kind of dog who may need a little time to trust you, but once he does... you'll have a sweet, snuggly best friend for life.
Opie is about 1-1½ years old and around 25 pounds. His story hasn't been an easy one. He was found at a shelter after being hit by a car, and he appears to have old injuries from more than one accident. Thankfully, those injuries have healed on their own and he does not require surgery or medication. He walks on all four legs and shows no signs of pain, although he will occasionally hold up a back leg when he runs.
But what really makes Opie special is his personality.
Sniffing is his absolute favorite thing in the world! He loves exploring the backyard and following every interesting scent. He can get pretty vocal when he finds something exciting, so a home with a secure fenced yard is a must. Apartment or condo living probably wouldn't be the best fit for this little guy.

Good with kids, although very young children may initially make him a little nervous

Doesn't enjoy a crate, but he doesn't need to be crated
Opie is a little timid with people at first, so he needs an adopter who will be patient and allow him to come out of his shell at his own pace. Once he trusts you, though, his snuggly side comes out-and it is absolutely worth waiting for.
He would LOVE to have another dog to be part of a pack, a secure fenced yard to explore, and someone who understands that sometimes the best dogs just need a little extra patience to realize they're finally safe.
Opie is so, so sweet and ready for the person who will give him the time and love he deserves.
