Please welcome Mrs Claus Holiday Village! Was hoping she would be ready for Christmas (hence the name) but she took a little longer to get ready for her furever family. She came to SAAP with her 2 adorable babies. She was an excellent momma and very protective and caring for them until the day they were adopted.
Now it's her turn to be a happy go lucky pup and find her furever happiness! We are thinking she is a Red Heeler (cattle dog) mix based on her fur pattern. She is only about 30 pounds. Mrs Claus is a medium to high energy gal and she LOVES being with her people!! She really just wants you to love on her! She is working on crate training and has done very well going to her crate when I ask and she is keeping it clean (i.e., no potty accidents). She has done great with potty training as well with routine potty breaks. You may need to step outside with her to get her to go out but thankfully she goes out on her own most of the time.
She has done very well with the other resident and foster dogs (male and female ranging in size from 13 pounds to 60 pounds) - always recommend slow introductions to be safe and allow both dogs to adjust to the new situation. She has also ignored the resident cat. She did exhibit some initial resource guarding - guarding her human from the other dogs with some grumbles but she has since corrected very easily and now shares her personal with the other dogs. All of the dogs in the home are crate fed for safety purposes so I would recommend that continue to ensure she gets her daily food allowance (she is still on the skinny side).
