Scooby is our longest resident, and that's because he is really not meant to be a shelter dog but has a hard time convincing potential adopters of that. He is a sensitive dog who gets concerned about stressful things in his environment. He has come such a long way with his anxiety and nerves with us in the shelter but what he requires is stability and consistency. He was in a temporary foster for two weeks and during that time he showed so much growth as he finally had a chance to settle in as a house pet. After some decompression, we found he wasn't destructive, played with toys and puzzles, snuggled up on the couch, and even had some nice car rides (with only a little whining). Even in the shelter he is a gentle, friendly boy who follows commands, waits patiently for volunteers to leash him in his kennel, and is easy to walk. Although sometimes he does get spooked and wants to go back inside.
What Scooby needs is someone with patience and a willingness to build trust with him once they bring him home and who can work constructively with him on his anxiety needs. We have a trainer who will help the new adopter transition Scooby into his new home. Everyone who knows Scooby, loves him!
