Hi, I'm Bertha! I'm a very sweet gal and this is truly my second chance at life. I was saved thanks to Homeward Bound!
My story? I arrived last September, after being found in a crate on the side of the road. It was clear that I wasn't well cared for. I was depressed, and so overweight that I could barely move. I had bad arthritis and was in so much pain everyone wondered if kindly letting me go would be the best thing. But they saw something in my eyes that made everyone want to fight for me. I went to a foster home to begin a strict diet and exercise regimen. It worked! It's slow going, but I'm doing it! I feel amazing and my personality has done a 180! Here are a few things about me that we've since learned:
1. I'm happy, playful, jump on the furniture, run around playing chase, and love watching birds out the window!
2. I'm quite the character and I will make one family very lucky one day when I finally get adopted!
3. I'd do best as an only cat with a loving attentive family who will spend a lot of time snuggling with me. Snuggles are my favorite!
5. I need at least 10 minutes of playtime every day to help me meet my weight goal. Wand toys are the best! And I love catnip toys! I move around incredibly well and can even jump and run if I have to!
6. Sometimes I may not enjoy lots of pets and will need my space - probably just like you! Sometimes we ALL need space!
7. Due to my size, I need a large litter box with tall sides and it should be cleaned multiple times a day.
8. I love the camera! I'll pose for you as often as you want and soak up the attention.
9. I need a monthly shot for my arthritis, and if I miss it, it will affect my mobility because of my larger size. I am used to it, and while I don't love it, I know it helps, so please don't be deterred, and please be committed to this care!
