Sausage and his brother Taco are a bonded pair who were recently surrendered to us after their owners could no longer care for them. Before that, they had been surrendered to us years ago, then adopted and returned shortly after, then adopted again. Now, they're back with us for a third time. They understandably took some time to warm up but now are very sweet and waiting for their next chance! They do need to be adopted together as they've been with each other since their first surrender and have a very strong bond.
Both are great with other cats and are known to be affectionate with them. They're mostly indifferent towards dogs; rather than being buddies with canine houseguests, they opt to climb up and away and watch them from above. Taco and Sausage have been around children of all ages and do great with them once they know them. In a new home, they will likely need some time to settle in and decompress given everything they've been through. We recommend giving them their own space away from poking hands and sniffing snouts for at least one week before letting them fully meet the entire family.
Sausage does have a history of urinary blockages. He was put on a urinary care diet by his most recent vet which we have continued here with no recurrences of blockages. He will likely need to remain on some kind of urinary care diet indefinitely. And, because Taco and Sausage are best friends, they like to share food, so Taco gets a urinary diet as well. He says he doesn't mind at all!
