Meet Bowie! This enthusiastic young pup is full of happy tail wags, playful charm, and a nose that's always ready for an adventure. He loves to sniff and explore, taking in all the neighborhood news along the way. He is generally good on his leash, only pulling a bit when he catches a scent that's too interesting to pass up! He knows "sit" and is happy to work for a tasty reward-especially hot dogs!

At 43 pounds, Bowie is a medium-sized guy with plenty of personality. His silly side really shines when the toys come out. His absolute favorite shelter activity is fetch! Toss him a ball and watch the fun begin-he'll even bring it back sometimes for another round. With his friendly personality and adorable face, he makes time together something to smile about.

During his time in a temporary foster home, Bowie has shown off his playful, puppy-like personality and his love for both adventure and relaxation. He enjoys a good walk, walks beautifully on leash without pulling, and checks in often with his person. He hasn't been reactive to squirrels or other dogs on walks and has been great with his foster's kids, ages 11 and 13.

Bowie also has a hilarious side! He found a particularly impressive stick and happily carried it home for four whole blocks, even showing it off to some dogs along the way. After his outings, he's more than happy to curl up on the couch for a long, sweet nap with his foster family. He's a good eater and takes his medication easily. This tolerant boy did well with bath time and seems to be housebroken so far. He's also easily won over by treats! Bowie is proving to be a fun, easygoing companion who enjoys a little adventure followed by plenty of cozy downtime.

As his foster stay has continued, Bowie has shared even more about himself! He's comfortable in his crate, where he has relaxed for up to four hours during the day and slept through the night without a problem.

Bowie continues to take neighborhood encounters in stride, even when dogs bark at him from close range. He also ignored a neighbor's cat sitting just a few feet away while he enjoyed attention from her owner. While that brief encounter doesn't establish compatibility with cats, it was a positive observation. He's been loving and playful when meeting new people, sometimes lifting his front paws in excitement, but he responds easily to redirection.

This toy-loving boy enjoys fetch, chewing on toys, and entertaining himself between snuggle sessions. He knows "sit" and is learning to wait to have his leash put on. He sometimes gets an evening burst of puppy-like energy, with zoomies, mounting, or playful nibbling, but his foster reports that he can be redirected and settles after a brisk walk or run. Whether it's playtime or couch time, Bowie is happy to share it with his people!

Bowie will need to meet any potential doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match. He is eligible to come back to BARCS for social sessions.

Bowie is hanging out in the comfort of a temporary foster home. Please email dogfosters@barcs.org and complete an application to be connected with his foster family.
