Mabel (aka Royalty) is a beautiful 51-pound girl with a gentle heart and so much love to give! She can be a little nervous when meeting new people, so a gentle approach and some sweet baby talk go a long way with her. When she first arrived at her foster home, she was nervous around her foster dad, but with a little time and patience, the two became snuggle buddies! She may start with the tiniest tail wags as she works up the courage to say hello, but once she feels safe, her affectionate personality shines. She's a sweet girl who just needs a little time to let you see her softer side.
Mabel is a total shadow dog who loves staying close to her favorite people. Her foster describes her as incredibly sweet and gentle at home, often following them around and keeping them company wherever they go. She loves snuggling and is happy to join you on the couch when invited. She has also been wonderful with her foster family's 5-year-old child, happily accepting pets and showing a gentle, easygoing nature. She's even interested in joining the bedtime routine, though her family is helping her learn appropriate boundaries!
This lovely lady is doing wonderfully with her house manners! She appears to be fully housetrained and will head to the door when she needs to go outside. She also seems crate-trained, happily going into her crate and remaining comfortable when left alone. Her foster family has gradually tested short absences, with Mabel doing well for up to three and a half hours without any issues. She hasn't shown any destructive behavior or an interest in chewing things she shouldn't, making her a lovely houseguest.
Mabel is a pleasant walking companion who enjoys getting outside and exploring with her people. She has lower-to-medium energy levels and is happy to head out for a walk before settling in for some quality relaxation time. She knows "sit," although treats and toys haven't turned out to be her biggest interests so far. Her favorite activity is undoubtedly snuggling with her humans!
Mabel is still building confidence in the world beyond her home. She can be very interested in cats and squirrels and may pull toward them on walks. She has also shown some reactivity when encountering other dogs, particularly when the other dog appears interested in her. Her foster family is still learning what makes her uncomfortable, so she'll benefit from space from dogs while out and about. Mabel has met other dogs at BARCS and may do best with gentle, polite canine friends. Any potential doggie roommates should meet her carefully to make sure everyone is comfortable together.
Mabel is looking for a patient, kindhearted person who will give her time to adjust and let her confidence grow at her own pace. She may be shy when you first meet, but beneath that cautious exterior is a tenderhearted cuddlebug who wants to love and be loved. If you have room in your heart and home for a gentle shadow who will happily keep you company, Mabel might just be your girl!
