Meet Raine! This handsome 1.5-year-old, 75.2-pound boy is ready to find a loving home with someone who will help him feel comfortable as he explores the world. He is affectionate and friendly with people, and loves pets and snuggles.
Beautiful grey-eyed Raine is easy to leash up and handle. He is curious about his environment outside, enjoys exploring and sniffing, and is attentive to his handler whenever asked. In the play yard, he joyously bounds about, and returns to his person any time you ask for his attention. He is a hoot with toys in the yard, and loves running around with them. He is food motivated and is incredibly patient with his "sit." He takes his treats so politely. Raine appears to be housebroken and keeps a clean kennel
Raine came from difficult living conditions and was initially frightened and overwhelmed at the shelter. With time, patience, and kindness, he has opened up into a playful, loving boy who enjoys pets, snuggles, and running around the yard with toys! Raine can be startled by sudden noises, but he recovers quickly after a loud sound surprises him. A patient adopter who offers a calm approach and time to settle in could help him build confidence.
This sweet, gentle boy recently enjoyed a Dogs Day Out adventure and proved to be a perfect passenger. He explored his hosts' yard, settled in for a long nap on the floor, and was a good sport for photos and outfit changes!
Raine also briefly met a cat through a gate, where he appeared curious and friendly, even greeting nose-to-nose before easily turning his attention elsewhere. While this brief introduction doesn't establish compatibility with cats, it was an encouraging observation.
Since arriving at BARCS, Raine hasn't had a night away from the shelter, and the stress of kennel life is beginning to weigh on him. He is a priority for a foster or adoptive home where he can relax and enjoy companionship. Even one night or a weekend in a foster home would give him a welcome break. Raine is playful with his dog pals, and likes to play chase with his favorite friends. He would like to meet any potential roommates to be sure they are a good match.
