Meet Roscoe, a sweet and gentle 3-year-old boy who weighs 35 pounds and is working toward a healthy weight! This little sweetheart came to the shelter in need of some TLC, and he's showing everyone what a loving companion he can be. With his gentle nature, adorable wiggles, and love of snuggles, Roscoe is ready to find a home where he can feel safe, loved, and appreciated. And when he gets especially excited, he flashes the cutest little doggy smile!

Roscoe is a lovely walking companion who enjoys sniffing and exploring the world around him. He has been doing well on leash and doesn't seem bothered by squirrels, foxes, or people he encounters along the way. When he gets close to another dog, he may whine with excitement or interest, so he would benefit from continued positive experiences and thoughtful introductions. Roscoe has met other dogs at BARCS and prefers gentle, respectful playmates. He has also interacted well with small dogs.

One of Roscoe's standout qualities is how friendly he is with people! He's been happily greeting everyone from repair workers to people he meets on outings. During a recent trip to a coffee and beer spot, Roscoe was a wonderful little social butterfly, relaxing on a blanket while greeting adults and children and accepting pets from his foster's friends. He handled the experience beautifully, making himself right at home among the activity. At home, he may give one bark when the mail carrier arrives at the door, but then settles right back down.

Roscoe is an affectionate boy who loves pets and attention from his favorite humans. He's still figuring out the whole couch situation, but he's already found a cozy nighttime routine: he sleeps on a dog bed beside his foster's bed and peacefully snoozes through the night without waking anyone up. He's an easygoing companion who enjoys being near his people, and although he's generally relaxed, he occasionally breaks out the zoomies in the backyard to show off his playful side.

Roscoe has been doing wonderfully with his housetraining, with no accidents in his foster home. He's also a star when it comes to crate time! He goes right into his crate without hesitation and stays quiet when left alone, making him a great houseguest. He's settling into a predictable home routine and showing just how nicely he can adapt to life outside the shelter.

This clever little guy is learning new skills, too. He consistently comes when called and is making great progress with the "gentle" cue when taking treats from his foster's hand. He's eager to learn, and his foster recently introduced him to some agility equipment. Roscoe confidently went through tunnels and over jumps without hesitation! With his willingness to try new things and his enthusiastic attitude, he could be a fun candidate for agility or other confidence-building activities with his future family.

When it's time to play, Roscoe still enjoys his favorite toys and activities from previous weeks. He loves affection just as much as he enjoys a little adventure, making him a nice balance of snuggly companion and willing participant in new experiences. Whether he's exploring a trail, joining you for a dog-friendly outing, practicing new skills, or curling up nearby at the end of the day, Roscoe is ready to be part of the fun.

Roscoe is a friendly, gentle, and adaptable little guy who is making wonderful progress in foster life. He's housetrained, comfortable in his crate, welcoming toward new people, and already showing a knack for learning. He's looking for a family who will give him the love and TLC he deserves, continue building on his training, and appreciate all the whole-body wiggles, sweet snuggles, and goofy doggy smiles he brings to everyday life.

Roscoe is currently enjoying the comfort of a foster home. If you're interested in meeting this sweet boy, please complete an adoption application and email dogfosters@barcs.org for next steps!
