Meet Katrina, a 5-year-old sweetheart with plenty of affection to share! At 54 pounds, she's a lovely walking companion who already knows "sit." She's also spayed and ready to go home today.
Katrina recently enjoyed a trip to a Petco adoption event, and she was delighted to get out and meet people. She made new friends, walked easily through the store, and was wonderfully gentle with the children who stopped by. After a couple of hours of excitement, she was ready for some quiet time-a girl knows when she's had a full day!
Katrina recently spent some time in a foster home, where she showed off her affectionate personality, playful spirit, and love of being close to her people. Call her from across the room, and she'll come jogging over to lean against you or tuck her head into you for some love. Neck scratches, couch cuddles, and keeping you company around the house are some of her favorite things!
Katrina had no potty accidents during her foster stay and settled comfortably into the household's quieter moments. While her fosters worked from home, she could relax nearby without constantly asking for attention. She enjoys being included, whether that means supervising dinner preparations or following her people from room to room.
This smart girl loves squeaky stuffies, indoor fetch, and searching for a toy tucked inside a blanket. She takes treats gently and picked up the "touch" cue, happily tapping her fosters' hands with her nose. Her fosters enjoyed watching her learn routines and become more comfortable each day.
Quiet walks give Katrina a chance to shine! With fewer distractions, she enjoys strolling alongside her person and checking in along the way. She is still practicing staying focused when dogs or squirrels catch her attention and benefits from extra space, redirection, and encouragement. She can pull strongly and may bark, particularly when another dog reacts toward her, so she'll appreciate an adopter who can continue helping her build calm walking habits. She also showed interest in chasing an outdoor cat. Her foster home did not include other pets or children, so her experience sharing a home with them is unknown.
Katrina forms close bonds with her people and is learning to feel comfortable when they're away. Her foster stay offered an encouraging step forward: after initially struggling with the crate, she began choosing to go inside for daytime naps on her own. Being left alone remains an area for her future adopters to continue to work through. A patient adopter who can gradually help her build confidence with alone time will give this loving girl the support she needs to feel more secure.
Katrina's fosters described her as a wonderful mix of playful energy and cuddly companionship. For someone ready to support her continued progress, this loving girl has plenty of sweetness, enthusiastic greetings, and cozy moments to share.
Katrina will need to meet any potential doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match. She is eligible to come back to BARCS for social sessions.
Come down to BARCS and meet Katrina!
