Jacqueline (called Honey by her foster family) is a 5 year old spayed female cat who came to BARCS through no fault of her own. Coming from downtown Baltimore's alleyways, she has been surprisingly easy to adapt to indoor living. She litter-trained herself within 2 days and recently learned how to use a scratching post. She loves her head and ears to be scratched and she will rub on you until you comply with her wishes. Upon scratching her head, she will likely flop over immediately on her side and produce large, bounding purrs, possibly accompanied by making biscuits. She is very playful, loving kick-toys and silver vine sticks. She is very food-motivated, with churru treats being a favorite of hers.
Jacqueline (Honey) is still getting used to some aspects of living indoors. She is not yet comfortable being picked up or being in a carrier. She exhibits significant fear and defensive behavior with handling attempts (picking her up, nail trims). She will need time, patience, and training to unlearn fearful and defensive behaviors around vet visits. She has already demonstrated growth in her very short time with her foster family, but this Baltimore alley cat will need a family who is patient and understanding as she takes the time she needs to grow out of her defensive behavior.
