Meet Trek! She is a 4-year-old, 60-pound brindle beauty with a big heart, big energy, and an even bigger love for her people. She can appear a little shy when first meeting her in a kennel setting, but don't let that fool you-once she's out and able to relax, her happy, affectionate personality shines through.
Trek absolutely adores human attention. She loves leaning in for pets, flopping beside you, and soaking up all the affection she can get. Belly rubs are one of her favorite things, and she's happiest when she's close to her people for some snuggling. When meeting new people, she can get very excited and may jump up to say hello, as she's just so eager for attention and love.
In her foster home, Trek is fully housebroken and has been doing great with her routine with no accidents. She enjoys getting out for walks and has plenty of energy to burn. She can still pull on leash at times, but as the walk goes on she tends to settle in and relax. After a good walk or play session, Trek is happy to lay down and relax.
Trek loves toys-especially anything that squeaks! Plush toys are a big favorite, though she can be a bit of a toy destroyer if left unsupervised, so durable toys and enrichment activities will help keep her busy. When she's left alone, she'll usually snooze, but if there are plush toys around she may decide to turn them into her next project.
She's also been enjoying trips to the dog park where she gets to see and hear other dogs. She sometimes whines or barks at certain dogs as she watches the excitement around her. Trek has not lived with other pets in her foster home, but she has met other dogs at BARCS. She prefers rowdy playmates and requests to meet any resident dogs to ensure they are a good match.
Overall, Trek is a loving, energetic dog who thrives on attention, playtime, and companionship. She would do best with an adopter who can give her regular exercise, fun toys, and plenty of affection. If you're looking for a playful, cuddly dog who will happily snuggle up after an adventure, Trek might be your perfect match.

I'm a VIP because I'm still learning, and the shelter can be a tough place for dogs like me to shine. But I've got a whole team cheering me on!
Here are a few things the staff and volunteers are helping me with:
· Feeling less stressed/fearful in my kennel
· Learning to make the right dog friends at the right pace
· Redirecting my excitement into better choices (instead of humping!)
If you're patient and open-hearted, I could be your best friend. I'm available for adoption! During the adoption process, a staff member can walk you through what's been working for me and how you can keep the progress going at home.
