Six-year-old Ms. Mustard (formerly Muttstard 1) is a gentle, soulful lady who's slowly blossoming into her best self. Quiet, observant, and endlessly endearing, she's that rare kind of dog who doesn't demand attention-yet effortlessly steals your heart.

Now settling into her foster home, Ms. Mustard has started showing off her quirky, lovable personality. She loves riding in the car (and falling asleep almost instantly), playing in water, and admiring her reflection in every mirror she finds. She's fascinated by the world in the most delightful ways-like gently pawing at her water bowl to see what happens or curiously watching squirrels and birds with her tail quietly wagging behind her.

Around the house, she'll follow you from room to room like a polite little shadow. She's still figuring out the whole couch-snuggling thing but has no issues with touch and clearly enjoys being close. She's also discovering the joy of toys-animal-shaped plushies and bright tennis balls seem to be her favorites-and learning to let her guard down, one tail wag at a time.

Her leash manners? Impeccable. Ms. Mustard walks like a dream-no pulling, no fuss. She often walks slightly sideways to check in on you, which only adds to her charm. She's a quiet girl who hasn't barked once in foster care, but her foster is excited for the day she finds her voice.

She's done incredibly well around other dogs in public-when others bark, she stays calm and unbothered. She came from a home with cats and recently showed no reaction even when face-to-face (through a window) with a hissing one. Whether it's cats, dogs, or new environments, Ms. Mustard brings an energy of peaceful curiosity and quiet confidence.

Ms. Mustard is nearly house-trained and is doing well with positive reinforcement for going outdoors. She's also doing well with crate time, staying relaxed for naps and overnight.

This lovely lady is working on gaining weight, so her exercise is being kept moderate for now-no interest in running just yet, but she enjoys gentle walks and taking in her surroundings. She's not very food-motivated when it comes to traditional treats, but organic goodies like dried chicken feet or sheep ears? Now that's a different story.

Ms. Mustard's ideal home is one with a slow rhythm, a cozy place to nap, and people who'll give her time to continue unfolding into the confident companion she's meant to be. She doesn't ask for much-just someone to stroll with, nap beside, and love quietly and steadily.

If you're looking for a soulful companion with gentle eyes and a heart of gold, Ms. Mustard is ready to meet you. To learn more or set up a meet-and-greet, please email dogfosters@barcs.org to be connected with her foster family.
