Mr. Monopoly has officially captured everyone's heart here! This lovable, 59-pound chunk of joy is the perfect mix of sweet, silly, and snuggly. With his big friendly hugs, adorable face, and gentle demeanor, he's impossible not to fall for. He's a giant goofball who adores being outside-sniffing, exploring, and taking in the world with curious enthusiasm. While he's still working on perfecting his leash manners, Mr. Monopoly is always checking in with his handler, eager to learn and please. He's a smart boy who's already mastered a strong "sit" and takes his treats as gently as a little lamb.
He's incredibly polite and well-behaved, making fast friends with everyone he meets. He's got a playful, puppy-like energy that shines through once he's comfortable, and if you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate companion who'll keep you smiling, Mr. Monopoly is your guy.
Mr. Monopoly recently spent time in a short-term foster home, and his foster shared some wonderful insights into his personality. If you're looking for a calm, low-key house dog who enjoys being close and following his person from room to room, Mr. Monopoly might be your perfect match.
His foster hand-fed him breakfast and dinner each day, incorporating training into mealtimes. Mr. Monopoly quickly picked up "sit" and "touch" and started working on "paw" and "down." He is incredibly smart and loved the enrichment. He also takes treats with impressive gentleness-carefully and slowly, as if making sure not to touch your fingers.
In the home, he was a calm and polite companion. He didn't get into trouble; instead, he quietly followed his foster around and observed everything with curiosity. He's learning about the comforts of home life, including couches, ice cubes, toys, and even ovens. Wherever his foster went, he was never far behind, content to settle near and simply watch.
One of the most endearing things about Mr. Monopoly is the little tippy taps he does in the mornings when he's excited to see his person. He clearly wants to jump up but knows he isn't supposed to-his whole body shows just how happy he is. Another memorable moment came after a walk, when he was offered ice cubes. He was so tired he didn't want to get up to grab them, but they kept slipping from his grasp. He's a funny guy with a big personality and a knack for making people smile.
Mr. Monopoly is still learning a few manners, but he's already made great progress in a short time. His foster shared that once trust was established-remarkably, in just three days-he settled in beautifully and his sweet, gentle personality began to shine. While he may need a little support as he continues to adjust, he's proven to be incredibly responsive to patience, consistency, and kindness. With the right family, there's no doubt he'll continue to thrive.
He also made great progress with leash walking. While he's still listed as working on this at the shelter, his foster reported that he very rarely pulled on walks and was easy to redirect with gentle corrections, praise, or food. He was curious and interested in everyone and everything they passed but was never pushy or overwhelming. He also ignored outdoor cats, ducks, and squirrels in the neighborhood. (Note: Mr. Monopoly's ability to live with cats is still unknown-please consult the BARCS behavior team for more guidance.)
In their words: "We'd keep him if the timing were right. I know his perfect family is out there waiting for him."
Mr. Monopoly has met other dogs at the shelter, he is a playful boy who can be selective with his friends. He likes to play chase.
Sweet, attentive, confident, and full of love-this cutie is ready to be the prize at the center of your game board!
