Kelby is a 52-pound ray of sunshine with a heart as big as her goofy grin. She's the perfect blend of curiosity, smarts, and snuggles-a young pup who's discovering the world around her and learning that it's actually a pretty great place to be.

While she started off a bit uncertain when she arrived at BARCS, she's blossoming beautifully in her foster home. Whether she's tossing toys in the air, putting on a one-dog show with her squeaky collection, or gently placing her head in your lap for a chin scratch, Kelby is a joy to be around.

Out on walks, Kelby loves to sniff every flower, study every squirrel, and check in with her human regularly. She's still working on her leash skills-sometimes she pulls when something exciting catches her attention-but she settles into a nice rhythm and is always happy to explore by your side. She's easy to leash, wonderfully non-reactive to other dogs on walks, and loves meeting new people.

Kelby is crate-training and house-training in progress, and she's doing really well with both. She's a smart girl who's quickly learning routines. She's also treat-motivated-especially when hot dogs are involved-and proudly shows off her "sit" for snacks. While she's not super snuggly all the time, Kelby loves curling up next to you during nap time and being nearby throughout the day. She's affectionate, respectful of space, and learning how to ask for the love she wants.

Kelby thrives with structure and calm environments and is beginning to relax and show her naturally goofy, affectionate personality. She's still on a bit of medication while recovering from a mild respiratory infection and some stomach upset, but she's been a total champ through it all. Once she's healthy and off her temporary meds, she'll be ready to dive into her next adventure with even more pep.

She's shown interest in other dogs and would likely enjoy a polite, playful dog sibling. She can be excitable around small animals like cats and rabbits, so supervision or a home without small animals might be best. We haven't tested her with kids directly, but she's shown gentle interest in neighborhood children and might do well with older, respectful kiddos.

Kelby would thrive with an adopter who works from home, has a flexible schedule, or wants a companion to take on outdoor adventures. She'd also love someone interested in training or even trying a dog sport-she's agile, eager, and clearly loves learning. While she's still working through some young-dog tendencies (like occasional destructive behavior when left alone), she's showing improvement with routine, mental stimulation, and time spent together.

If you're looking for a sweet, smart, and loving pup who will keep you laughing with her goofy antics, join you for every walk, and cuddle up for movie night, Kelby just might be your girl.
