Meet Virginia Woof - a caramel-coated cutie with a heart of gold and a personality that's equal parts sweet, silly, and soulful. At just two years old and 50 pounds, Virginia is the perfect age to offer a wonderful blend of playful energy and mellow companionship. Since arriving at BARCS as a stray in May, she's undergone a beautiful transformation-blossoming from a timid, shy girl into a loving and goofy pup now thriving in her foster home.

Virginia's foster family describes her as a delightful house guest. She's completely house-trained and hasn't had a single accident. She also loves her crate-it's her safe place, and she'll often nap there by choice, especially at night. When left alone, she might give a little whine at first but settles down quickly, especially if left with a favorite toy or treat for enrichment. She happily sleeps in either her crate (with the door open) or one of her favorite dog beds, and she loves to sleep in and greet her humans with tail wags and happy energy each morning.

Though she was very shy at the shelter, Virginia has revealed her goofy, playful side in foster. She's warmed up to human guests with gentle curiosity and has shown that she enjoys affection in her own special way-she may not be a full-time cuddler, but she'll happily rub her head and neck up against you like a cat to show she cares. After a few minutes of snuggles, she's content to retreat to her crate or lie nearby, quietly keeping you company with her calming presence.

Virginia Woof is also an enthusiastic fly hunter! If a fly sneaks into the house, she'll hunt it down with the focus and flair of a seasoned pro (and there's a hilarious video to prove it). Whether she's doing zoomies in the yard, lounging nearby during work-from-home hours, or softly wagging her tail as she follows you from room to room, Virginia finds joy in simple things-and she brings that joy to those around her.

When it comes to walks, Virginia is mostly great on leash and enjoys calm strolls where she can sniff and explore. She may get a bit "borky" when spotting squirrels or other exciting things, but she's easily redirected and responsive to gentle guidance. In her foster's small yard, she enjoys roaming with confidence, sniffing all the smells, and having quiet time to herself outside. While she loves a good burst of zoomie energy now and then, she's generally calm and low-key indoors.

Virginia is dog-friendly and lives peacefully with other pups in her foster home. She enjoys the company of gentle, respectful dog friends and would likely do well with a mellow canine companion in her forever home. Cats, however, are a bit too exciting for her-she's been known to scare off the resident kitties in a former foster home, so a cat-free home would be best. She's also working through some allergies and may be a little itchy at times, but she's eating well, responding to care, and remains her happy, food-loving self.

This beautiful, sensitive girl is ready for her forever. Virginia Woof has come such a long way thanks to the love and patience of her foster family-and now she's ready to keep growing in a home of her own. If you're looking for a loyal, quiet, low-key companion who will reward you with gentle affection, quirky moments, and unwavering devotion, Virginia might be the one.
