Cheddar is a spunky, 58-pound senior. At 10 years old, you'd never guess her age-she's full of bounce and energy, especially when hopping up onto platforms during playtime! Cheddar is a champ at loose leash walking, though she does occasionally get caught up in following an irresistible scent trail.
Cheddar can be a bit reserved with new people at first, but with time (and treats!), her sweet and curious nature starts to shine through. Cheddar already knows basic commands like sit, stay, and come, especially when there's a tasty reward involved. She's currently working on polishing up a few manners-like taking treats more gently and remembering to keep all four paws on the ground-but she's a quick learner when motivated.
Cheddar has been living her best life on a few Dogs Day Out adventures, including visits to Herring Run Park and Fort McHenry. She loved every minute - especially the pup cup treats! Described by volunteers as friendly, mellow, and occasionally enthusiastic, Cheddar is a true sweetheart. She's incredibly lovable, easygoing, and food motivated - with a soft spot for hot dogs and naps. A true gentle giant, she enjoys the simple pleasures in life and will happily share them with you.
Cheddar recently enjoyed a fun-filled sleepover with a volunteer, and she was an absolute sweetheart the entire time! This gentle girl loves being close to her people, always happy to soak up gentle head scratches and affection. Cheddar was a wonderful house guest-fully housebroken and respectful of boundaries, only hopping onto the couch when invited. She's also a great traveler, hopping right into the car with no hesitation and happily riding shotgun, sneaking in a few kisses along the way.
In the morning, Cheddar joined her foster friend for a long walk to a coffee shop, where she enjoyed a special treat-a pup cup! Afterwards, she relaxed back at home, lounging contently on the sofa. Later in the day, Cheddar visited Fort McHenry for a photoshoot (she's such a natural in front of the camera!). She did beautifully meeting new people and kids, happily soaking up gentle pets and attention. Occasionally, she showed interest in dogs by pulling toward them, but she was easily managed with redirection.
Cheddar has met other dog pals at BARCS, and she can coexist calmly with her friends. She does best with gentle dog pals. She requests to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match.
With a little patience and the right snacks, Cheddar is sure to be a loyal and fun companion! Come to BARCS to meet Cheddar!
