Meet Stubbie - Your Next Snuggle Buddy! Stubbie is a sweet and soulful brindle beauty with the softest fur, the cutest underbite, and a whole lot of love to give. This gentle girl came to BARCS through animal control and is currently thriving in a foster home where she's winning hearts left and right.
Stubbie loves her walks and is a wonderful leash-walker-steady, curious, and always sniffing for her next discovery. She's easy to harness, calm on return, and thoroughly enjoys her outdoor adventures. Indoors, she's affectionate, snuggly, and often seeks out gentle pets from anyone sitting nearby (beware: you might get a little love slobber too!). Her foster family's favorite quirk? Stubbie climbing onto the beanbag chair to give full-body hugs and enthusiastic face kisses. She's a full-contact cuddler who just wants to be close to her people.
She does great with the other dogs in her foster home, including two small pups and her foster uncle's dog. While she can get excited and in another dog's face, she responds well to signals and adjusts her behavior. She's been exposed to small dogs and did well, and while we don't know how she is with cats or children yet, she's been affectionate and gentle with adults. Her energy level is moderate, making her a great match for relaxed strolls, couch lounging, and playtime with stuffed animals (her favorite!).
Stubbie is crate trained but prefers sprawling on her favorite bean bag chair. She's recovering well from a recent spay surgery and had a lump removed, which is being biopsied. Since surgery, she's had a few potty accidents indoors, but her foster is managing it by offering more frequent trips outside. She's also on short-term pain meds post-op, which she's taking like a champ.
Stubbie does startle if approached quietly from behind, especially on walks, so a calm, patient adopter who can help her build confidence will be a great match. She may be a little jumpy at first, but with time and love, this girl will give her whole heart-and body-to her new family.
